Rams’ Pocket Radio
Tuesday 14 February @ Café Drummonds, Aberdeen
RAMS’ POCKET RADIO is Peter McCauley, a drummer, pianist and songwriter from Lisburn, Northern Ireland. Unfettered personal expression is the focus, and with the timeless works of the 1950′s product designer Dieter Rams in mind; purity, simplicity and longevity are the first concerns.
For his live performance Peter is joined onstage by friends, and between them they create an intense and unmissable musical experience. Within a year of being, the band has performed extensively throughout Northern Ireland and more recently the UK and Germany playing a variety of well attended shows and performing with artists such as Darwin Deez, Iain Archer, Duke Special and Tuneyards. Despite only being together a short time the band have already picked up an award from the Music Quest competition, and were positioned in the exclusive Hotpress ‘Hot for 2010′ list in February. Rams’ pocket radio has gathered a volume of positive reviews and has received airplay both locally and nationally – this includes two Radio 1 NI live sessions, selection for the prestigious BBC 6 Music ‘Introducing’ podcast with Tom Robinson, national airplay on Huw Stephens show on BBC Radio 1 and ‘Single of the Week’ on Rick O’Shea’s RTE 2FM show. Most recently, RAMS’ supported the legendary Foy Vance on a stint around Ireland, performed an incredibly well received set at this years Glastonbury festival on the BBC Introducing stage, as well as undergoing a short run of headline UK tour dates and Northern Ireland festival appearances.
