Beyond presents:
Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire
A band from Glasgow, Scotland, RHLF released its eponymous album in late 2013 on boutique Scottish label Middle of Nowhere Records. Helmed by acclaimed producer Danton Supple (Patti Smith, Morrissey), the record was hailed as distinctive, dark and atmospheric and led to a nomination on the fiercely contested long list for the Scottish Album of the Year award in 2014.
Notably, the record also caught the attention of prime time US TV host Craig Ferguson who invited the band to perform on The Late Late Show for CBS that same year. The appearance proved so popular that the band was asked back to play a rare 5-night residency on the show, to a combined audience of over 12 million viewers. A Scottish Variety Award for International Breakthrough Artist of The Year followed, as did a nomination for Best Music Act at the Spirit of Scotland Awards.
Performances at the opening party for the Commonwealth Games and a celebrated show with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra at Paisley Abbey only served to bolster their reputation as a formidable live band, cemented by the huge popularity of their self-curated and much loved “Roaming Roots Revue” for Celtic Connections (which in its four years of special transatlantic collaborations has seen them play with everyone from Kris Kristofferson to the Low Anthem, Matthew E. White to Beth Orton and beyond).
After their return from South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, 2015 saw the band hunkered down in their studio in Glasgow writing a new record together. Admired Scottish producer Paul Savage (Mogwai, Emma Pollock, Admiral Fallow) was then brought on board to co-produce and realise their vision for the album.

Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire
A band defiantly in the classic mould, Scotland’s Roddy Hart & The Lonesome Fire are set to make their mark this year with the release of their long awaited eponymous album. Having released three acclaimed independent solo records – Bookmarks (featuring guest performances from Kris Kristofferson and Eddi Reader), Sign Language, and Road Of Bones – and The Dylan EP with Mercury nominated artist Gemma Hayes, Hart decided to shake the traditional singer/songwriter tag and concentrate on building an exciting and formidable seven-piece band.
Working with the producer of Coldplay’s multi million selling album XnY, the band spent most of 2012 ensconced in the studio – recording in locations as diverse as a Glasgow church, the band’s own rehearsal room in Govan Town Hall (once home to Franz Ferdinand), and the legendary Dean Street Studios in London (the birthplace of albums by David Bowie and The Smiths) – to create a vividly widescreen sonic landscape, and a sound that is all their own.
